Clemson offense vs. Boston College defense: Clemson. Boston College lost two of their best defensive players in last week’s game against Maryland, which included their defensive captain and best defensive lineman, Alex Albright. So, unless the back-ups are just as talented, Clemson should have their way with Boston College’s defense.
Clemson defense vs. Boston College offense: Clemson. The Eagles are currently ranking last in the conference in total yards per game and points per game. The only way they can hope to score points will be off turnovers, but Clemson hasn’t turned the ball over since the Miami game, so good luck with that.
Special teams: Clemson. The Tigers are going to be the favorite here for the rest of the season until proven otherwise, Clemson is above average to great in all phases of special teams right now.
Intangibles: Push. It’s a noon game, no one gets up for a noon game, not the players and definitely not Boston College fans, all seven of them.
Our Panel of Monkey Enthusiasts Says:
Sambo: I still can’t get the image of last year’s game out of my head. At halftime, I leave the stadium and head to the car for a beer (and I’m pretty sure it was raining, but I’m almost positive it rained during every home game last season). As I’m walking, I’m trying to tally up how many yards Boston College had in that first half. In fact, I could only remember them getting one first down, but that was on a pass interference call. Sure enough, I look it up on my phone and Boston College had one first down and negative 5 yards of total offense at the half. Negative yardage. Incredible. Well, not much has changed between that squad and this one.
Clemson 31, Boston College 6
Chili: You know, it seems that Nuke Hopkins has stepped up at wide receiver, the running game is continuing to be a strong point along with our stout offensive line, and Da’Quan Bowers is channeling the late, great Gaines Adams. Not only this, but NC State upended Florida State last night, keeping alive the Tigers’ ACC Championship Game hopes. Everything seems to now be CLICKING ON ALL CYLINDERS for the Tigers who seemed so hapless earlier this season. Seems like the perfect setup for a trap game, right? Normally, yes, but I think BC is pretty damned bad this year. Bad enough that, even though I expect the Tigers to come out a little off their game, Clemson should still prevail in this one, but not by as close of a margin as we’d like to see.

Clemson offense vs. Georgia Tech defense: Push. Clemson’s offense can’t move the ball and Georgia Tech’s defense can’t stop anybody, so that’s about as even a match-up as you are going to see.
Clemson defense vs. Georgia Tech offense: Georgia Tech. Until Clemson can prove that they can stop Paul Johnson’s offense, how could we possibly give Clemson the edge here.
Special teams: Clemson. The Tigers are going to be the favorite here for the rest of the season until proven otherwise, they are above average to great in all phases of special teams right now.
Intangibles: Clemson. Losing twice to the Yellow Jackets last season should be motivation enough, but since one of those losses was for the ACC Championship, revenge should be sought.
Our Panel of “Glee”heads Says:
Sambo: What is going to happen in this game? The short answer. I have no freaking idea. The long answer. Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech have had Clemson’s number ever since he arrived in Atlanta and I cannot honestly look you in the eyes and tell you Clemson will win this game. Until proven otherwise, I have to pick the Yellow Jackets. Sure, their defense is pretty terrible. And sure, they are not the best of road teams (cough, Kansas), but they seem to be getting better each week. The only way Clemson wins this game is if GT turns the ball over three or four times and the Tigers capitalize on each turnover by putting points on the board. Other than that, we might be looking at another game where neither team ever punts the ball and the team that actually gets a defensive stop wins. OK, I lied, I can look you in the eyes and tell you I think Clemson will win, but only because I am a huge homer.
Clemson 38, Georgia Tech 35
Chili: Clemson and GT played two phenomenal games last year but neither team is close to as good as they were in 2009. GT seems to be mildly down across the board; they’ll still confound teams with the option attack and win games. Clemson, on the other hand, is down in two core levels; linebacker and WR. The disease spreads from those two squads and effects the entire team in a big, big way. Can’t stop a defense, you can’t get your offense on the field. Can’t establish the passing game, you can’t set up the run game like you need to. You know this, we know this, and GT knows this. I think Clemson will be able to do pretty well against the Tech defense, but I don’t see Clemson’s defense shutting down the Yellowjackets enough to win the game. Tech gets another one.

Edge goes to:
Clemson offense vs. Maryland defense: Clemson. Maryland averages less yards per game then Clemson and has yet to play a team worth mentioning, so the edge has to go to Clemson, who has played a much tougher schedule to this point. And no, West Virginia is not worth mentioning.
Clemson defense vs. Maryland offense: Clemson. Maryland has one good receiver and one good running back, but I think too much has been made of them having two good quarterbacks.
Special teams: Maryland. Believe it or not, but Maryland leads the conference in kick return yardage, and by quite a large margin. Clemson is second with less than half of Maryland’s total.
Intangibles: Clemson. If the CJ Spiller Jersey Retirement doesn’t get this team up for the game, then nothing will.
Our Panel of Jersey Shore Cast Rejects Says:
Sambo: What does the number 28 and Clemson have in common besides CJ Spiller? That’s right, free tacos. If Clemson doesn’t reward the crowd with free tacos this weekend against Maryland, then it’s going to be hard to pull for them the rest of the season. On top of that, apparently Dabo and Billy Napier figured out that Andre Ellington is the better running back and said that he will get the majority of the carries and that Jamie Harper will be playing second fiddle. If that doesn’t make the fan-base happier, then drink some more and that should do the trick.
Clemson 31, Maryland 10
Chili: Maryland is 6-3 in their last nine games against Clemson; obviously they’ve been a thorn in our side for a while. Clemson is playing without their most consistent WR, Nuke Hopkins, who suffered a fluke muscle injury when he landed awkwardly on Marcus Gilchrest in practice this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maryland prevailed in this game, but I think Clemson will somehow pull their shit together after three losses in a row. Clemson wins a shitty game.

Edge goes to:
Clemson offense vs. UNC defense: Clemson. The good news is that UNC’s rush defense is poor and their pass defense is good, so that plays right into Clemson’s strengths, also known to Clemson fans as “Clemson’s wideouts suck balls”.
Clemson defense vs. UNC offense: UNC. Until Clemson can prove they can stop giving up big yardage TD plays, their opponent has the edge.
Special teams: We’re going Clemson, neither has done much on special teams this season, but Clemson’s punting game is a lot better than UNC’s and considering Clemson will probably be punting a lot, that could make the difference in the game.
Intangibles: Push. It is a must win for both teams if they want to continue to contend for their respective divisions.
Our Panel of Crazy Cat Ladies Says:
Sambo: Tough call, but looking at UNC’s schedule, they really haven’t beaten anybody. Then if you look at Clemson’s schedule, they haven’t beaten anyone either, causing me to think that if all things look as equal as they do here, then Clemson wins. Why? Because I said so. And because Andre Ellington and, to a lesser extent, Jamie Harper are going to go off this weekend. On top of that, it looks like Dabo figured out that all his veteran wide receivers suck and he is now going to play the young talented ones and see what they can do, which has to be an upgrade over Xavier “Captain Drops” Dye. I’m predicting a random blowout win for Clemson, I’m just feeling it for some reason.

Edge goes to:
Clemson offense vs. Miami defense: Miami because of their stout defensive line that should bottle up the run and force KP to throw it.
Clemson defense vs. Miami offense: Clemson if the four interception Jacory Harris shows up, but Miami if the no interception plays.
Special teams: Miami, they have had two kick returners run back a kick for TDs this season.
Intangibles: Clemson, only because it will be Homecoming.
Our Panel of Phone Sex Operators Says:
Sambo: I bet you expect me to say something about how this game will be close and will end up going to overtime, but you would be wrong. Miami will score late and Clemson blocks the extra point for the win. Overtime be damned. Also, playing at home and it being Homecoming will get the crowd whipped into a frenzy causing Jacory Harris to become a turnover machine.
Clemson 27, Miami 26
Chili: Ohio State provided a blueprint for how to push Jacory out of the pocket – and out of his comfort zone. Clemson has at least as good of a d-line as does OSU and should get pressure on Harris. 6’8″ superfreshman Seantrel Henderson will get the start at RT opposite DaQuan Bowers in what promises to be one of the key matchups of the game. I can’t wait to see how Bowers reacts to Henderson’s massive wingspan and if the freshman gets a baptism by fire on gameday. Talking to some Clemson players and people around the program I’ve learned that the Tigers are angry about the Auburn loss and itching to prove their true worth on the national stage. The Tigers win another classic.

Clemson offense vs. Auburn defense: Push due to unknowns. Clemson hasn’t shown anything on offense so far. They’re not showing their hand until tomorrow night.
Clemson defense vs. Auburn offense: Auburn has shown us a lot more offensively than Clemson has defensively.
Special teams: Slight edge to Clemson. While Spiller isn’t here to return kicks, Marcus Gilchrest has done admirably. Auburn has been decent at special teams but has some issues booting the ball into the end zone on kickoff and some other minor woes.
Intangibles: Auburn is treating this matchup like a glorified bowl game. GameDay is in town, the campus is buzzing, they’re putting on a “blue out” on Saturday as well. Intangibles are dangling Auburn’s way right now.
Our Panel of Disgruntled JetBlue Flight Attendants Says:
Sambo: Two huge factors to this game. One, D-Mac or Brandon Maye need to lay a bone-crunching, kidney-bleeding hit on Cameron Newton early on in the game, so that he will hesitate the next time he thinks about running the ball. Second, Clemson has to pressure Cameron Newton when he drops back to pass. After watching Auburn play Miss St, I saw Newton was not very accurate when he was pressured and if DaQuan can breathe down his back all night, then the defense can get off the field for once. Other than that, run the ball, run the ball, then run the ball some more. Control the clock and a road upset is possible.
Auburn 24, Clemson 21
Willy Mac: This game is where shit gets real for Clemson again. Auburn just has too much to bring to the table and our defense has been absolutely absent so far this season. If this game were a drink you’d be tasting hints of the Maryland game last year. We stay in it on the scoreboard but we get outplayed on most fronts on the field. Auburn pulls away as the game trudges on.
Auburn 34, Clemson 24
Chili: Not only will Cam Newton rush for 500 yards and throw for a mile, but he will stiffarm Clemson players’ facemasks into their faces and impregnate our cheerleaders, be they female or male. We’renot even talking SEC Speed here, this is just SEC spee, to fast for a d. Yeah, probably not, but he’ll put a dent in our defense which has looked less than ready for primetime thus far.
