@12 The sport does feel dirtier now than ever. My guess would be that we just know a lot more about cheating now than we did in the past. Between message boards, mainstream sports radio, website investigators who aren’t close to programs (Yahoo Sports), ESPN, and the massive amounts of money in CFB compared to a few years ago it makes sense that it seems dirtier. There’s more incentive to find cheating (increased CFB revenues & prominence), more media to find it, and more outlets to publish it in. There’s always been big time cheating.

The upside is that there are still top programs who seem to run pretty clean programs. Alabama*, Oklahoma*, Florida, Texas, LSU, Boise, TCU, and Virginia Tech all seem to have avoided any major violations or even acusations of violations like paying players over the past few years. But I type this knowing that any of these could be the next major program hit. I made this list off the top of my head so I could be forgetting a scandal.

*Both of these schools have had some serious violations (textbook scandal & Rhett Bomar respectively) but neither seemed to be on the out-of-control, buying players, coaches lying level of Auburn, Oregon, etc.

@ 14: Call me cynical, but I believe that all problems toe the line, some to a greater extent than others. Despite our athletic program’s shortcomings, I do think they do a good job of at least keeping our nose clean. I also think that everyone in the SEC (except for Vanderbilt probably) is doing the same thing as Auburn, and they’re ahead of the curve at keeping the NCAA at bay.

Other news Clemson pulled a big time Offensive Lineman in Javarius Leamon from Woodruff. Looks like the new OL coach Caldwell is starting to throw his weight around to get what he needs.

If you haven’t paid attention to what AndrewtheTerrible has said, then you really need to look into former Clemson student, and just recently ex-Nextel Cup girl Paige Duke. Seriously that girl was amazing while in school, and lets just say that the new pictures are NSFW.

Hey, I agree. We’d all like some chance to keep this going since it has been fun for all of us. I just don’t see it happening, though, and I don’t know why. Chili’s twitter feed (I hate twitter, BTW) indicates that, to quote Cosmo Kramer, he’s “already there” regarding the end of Block-C. Real shame as there is a great community here of like-minded individuals.

Why don’t we all just start another blog? Isn’t Block-C put together using blogger.com? Can’t be that hard, especially for people with engineering degrees… .

@forums: The forums being gone isn’t a huge deal in my opinion. I think the discussions in the comments sections can be just as lively and interesting. Not having forums makes the site easier to manage, but that won’t be an issue soon enough I suppose.

Guys I’d like to be kept in the loop in the works of Block-C v2.0…I really like this site and am going borderline insane since I have to rely on TigerNet for my Clemson chat fix. Most people over there are basically functioning retards and I can feel them syphoning out my life essense and whatever intelligence I had left in my brain. I think we’re all pretty like-minded individuals, and I like chatting it up with you fellas *holds tears back* gee whiz, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry.

I don’t live near many Clemson fans, and in less than 3 months I’m moving to South America so odds are I’ll be near no Clemson fans. This site was a nice sanctuary for me during games where I could chat with others about the team I love without having to be called a “coot” because I’m not “all-in”. I could have a few beers, bitch about playcalls, squeeze in a round of CoD at halftime, and sort of feel like I was there with others who cared about Clemson football. I’d really like to keep some form of it alive, even if it’s just forums where we can live chat during games and share videos of people getting run over by steamrollers.

I think what I’m trying to say is after this whole thing clears up, we should all get an apartment together…or at least before this site gets taken down, we should start a Facebook group just to keep the chatting alive between members who are interested in contributing in the future?

I think it’d be cool to continue to have Block-C pick’em competitions, like the Macallan Cup. Regardless of whether or not there is a prize for the winner, its still a good way to hang onto a bit of the community here. How that is organized I am not sure, but it beats the hell out of trying to organize something like that on T-net.
Hell, I’ve been banned from T-net so I can’t comment or even get into the message boards over there anymore. I was banned for saying “goddamnit” in a comment that somehow got past the auto-filter. I refuse to let that site become my primary source for off-topic Clemson news/commentary.
