Block-C is closing indefinitely…

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reading some of the archived posts while listening to a lot of  Sam Cooke and Bill Withers on pandora and getting all teary eyed about how far things have come since DFIG hit blogger five years ago. What a great and awesome experience this has been.

This was a mutual decision from Chili and I because frankly, we’ve just grown out of it I guess. At least that’s my true reason. Thank you to all of you guys for all the support, laughs, and fun times over the past few years. I’d definitely still like to communicate/meet/hang out with you guys. Block-C was a big part of my life that I really enjoyed and it helped me grow as a person. We built a great online community together and I’m really proud of all that we did. NO HOMO.

Chili

Well, it’s no surprise that Block-C has slowed down a lot lately. I had always said I never wanted this to be a blog that just sort of trailed off and ended like it’s about to, but a lot of things have changed and Willy Mac and I just have too much shit on our plate (literally, we’re super into scatophagy). He’s got a wife and a life and all that sort of shit, and I’m in goddamned China. Also, the blog has always been sort of a point of contention between me and Willy Mac. Arguments, egotistical shit, bitching about the direction of the site, that sort of thing. Frankly we’re better friends without the blog, so there’s that. I have to give a huge thanks to all our readers who’ve been with us from the beginning, even Tom. We wouldn’t have kept this up for as long as we have without you.

I’d rather end this thing than continue to do it half-assed. If I had my druthers, I’d just post dick jokes, EKRs, Dab-O-Meters, and other bits on a site and not have to worry about running it or doing news posts or any of the Xs and Os shit I really don’t care about. Maybe I’ll find another site to put stuff on, who knows. Of course, it won’t be the same. We started DFIG in order to provide a perspective on Clemson football that wasn’t available on Tigernet, TI, or any of the extant Clemson blogs out there. I still feel like our unique take on things isn’t duplicated anywhere else in the Clemson blogosphere (if you’ll allow me to use the term blogosphere) and I can only hope that some young bucks will come along and carry the torch from here on out. We were always protective of our ability to produce whatever content we wanted, when we wanted. We turned down numerous offers from big blog conglomerates because we were always afraid of anyone telling us what to do or fucking with our shit. In short, we did it our way, for better or worse.
