It’s not officially being reported yet, but there is a massive amount of talk going on that TDP has been fired. Now I would take it as just a message board rumor, but we know that he had an official evaluation from the Clemson powers that be earlier this semester and word was that it didn’t go over well. I had previously heard he would be fired at the end of December, but that was no more than a rumor itself, really.
I have no doubt in my mind that TDP has to go. I just don’t know if I trust the administrators in charge to make the right decision going forward.
If TDP is indeed gone, then the big question is just who Clemson gets to replace him. We find out if they are really making this move out of a desire to get better, or it could be a move to placate the faithful and put in another ineffectual leader. Bill D’Andrea’s name has been bantered about. He’s worked in the athletic department for a while and I’ve never heard people speak ill of him. Unfortunately for him I think we’d have to find leadership from outside our own athletic department for this one. I’ve heard Dwight Clark’s name mentioned. Clark works in the front office of his former NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers. I don’t know if I trust a guy who drafted Jim Druckenmiller in the first round. A name that’s been ringing round the gaggle of dullards over on Tigernet is that of former Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson. I think because they know his name, know he went to Clemson, and he’s older with white hair they think he’ll be a wise old AD. William “Bill” Smith, former Clemson Tiger and current Clemson BOT member has also had his name bantered about. Mark Richardson, one of Smith’s contemporaries on the Tigers and former exec for his father’s Carolina Panthers, is another name being mentioned.
We’ll let you know as soon as any more info is out.

Sakerlina 29, Clemson 7
Sambo’s computer died, Willy Mac has strep and is out of it for a while, and I’ve got finals this week so I’ll try and post when I can. That also means it’s up to me to sum up the steaming turd of a game that was the Gamecocks whipping Clemson’s ass to the tune of 29-7. I won’t dwell on this one too much as it was largely a conglomeration of errors that had plagued us at various times during this utterly forgettable season.
The game pretty much proved what we knew in advance; SC’s playcalling is head and shoulders above ours, our offense continued to be a massive liability, Alshon Jeffery is an amazing athlete, and our defense is the only thing keeping us even remotely close (which we really weren’t this game). Kyle Parker is a fluke, and acted like a spoiled prima donna on the sideline after being pulled. The two most talked about players prior to the game, Marcus Lattimore and Da’Quan Bowers, both had relatively pedestrian games, but then again each one’s predicament probably has something to do with the other’s.
Dabo Swinney now has as many losses against the Gamecocks in three years as Tommy Bowden had in nine. Damn.
Kyle Parker flipped his shit when Dabo pulled him and bolted right after the game, not speaking to reporters. He is also allegedly going to be academically ineligible for the bowl game so there.
***UPDATE*** Kyle Parker had a press conference today where he apologized for not talking to reporters. He said it took him as late as last night to decide whether or not to quit the team, but he’s back and Dabo has named him starter for the bowl game.
Your QB bolted like a baby after the Sakerlina game, then almost quit, so it’s natural that you’d go ahead and name him a starter ahead of your QB for the future who is in dire need of experience. Fucknuggets.
OTHER NEWS THAT DOESN’T MAKE ME AS SAD
Da’Quan Bowers was voted as a First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
Four Clemson Tigers landed on the All-ACC First team. Chris Hairston on offense, and on defense are Jarvis Jenkins, DeAndre McDaniel, and Da’Quan Bowers. Da’Quan was second in overall voting behind RB Montell Harris of Boston College

I told Willy Mac that I would come by his tailgate yesterday and do you know what, I did, but he wasn’t there. So does that count as coming by? I would hope so. Or was the tailgate I went to even his? If not, then I weirded out some very nice people. Anyways, here are Week 13′s The Macallan Cup Standings:

Line: Cocks -3
Edge goes to:
Clemson offense vs. Sakerlina defense: Sakerlina. Their defense is in the middle of the road in terms of the SEC, but they match up well against Clemson’s strengths. In other words, Clemson can run the ball well, but the Gamecocks play well against the run, and Clemson is a mediocre passing team, but the Cocks secondary is poor. If Clemson can do anything through the air, then they can set up the run a lot easier, however, we have all seen how that has gone this season, so cross your fingers and hope Clemson’s offense remembers how to catch the ball.
Clemson defense vs. Sakerlina offense: Push. With all the ballyhoo surrounding Marcus Lattimore and his “alleged” awesomeness, I was kind of surprised to see that the Gamecocks have the 8th ranked rushing offense in the SEC. On top of that, Clemson hasn’t allowed a team (I repeat, team) to rush for a total of 100 yards in three weeks. So, if the Tigers are able to bottle up Lattimore, then the one-dimensional/easily defend-able Gamecock offense will show itself and Clemson and it’s 9th ranked Nationally defense can get to work.
Special teams: Clemson. The Tigers are going to be the favorite here for the rest of the season until proven otherwise, they are above average to great in all phases of special teams right now. Hell, even the field goal kicker is making them all of the sudden.
Intangibles: Push-y. This is a tough one. Clemson doesn’t want to lose to Sakerlina for the second straight year, meanwhile, Sakerlina wants to beat Clemson for the second straight year for the first time since hippies roamed the country. But at the same time, Sakerlina has bigger fish to fry next week and Clemson doesn’t really need this win to go to a better bowl, mostly because they will be playing the Mienke Car Care Bowl no matter what happens this weekend. So, other than the rivalry, this game doesn’t mean anything on a grand scale. Push.
Our Panel of Part-time Underwear Models Says:
Sambo: The Clemson fan in me says, “Why are you asking me this question, of course Clemson wins, probably by a million ka-billion”, but the realist in me says, “Damn it, it just feels like one of those kind of years where nothing is going to go right, no matter how many goats I sacrifice to the Football Gods.” So, what do I think will happen in the game this weekend? Well, I’m glad you asked and the answer is easy. I set up possibly scenarios on a dartboard, then closed my eyes, threw a dart, and came up with my prediction. Actually, the first dart hit “Clemson One Million Ka-Billion, Sakerlina -Infinity”, but since I never thought my dart would hit that scenario, I threw a second dart and got my real prediction and I’m not happy about it.
Sakerlina 24, Clemson 17
Chili: It’s going to be rough living in this state for the next year as I expect the Cocks to control this game from pretty much every angle. Clemson’s defense is extremely formidable, but I think that Jeffrey and Lattimore are too much and I don’t think Clemson’s offense will be able to sustain drives long enough to give the defense some rest. If Garcia has a shakey outing things could turn out different, but I expect the visitors from Columbia to continue to play head and shoulders above the Tigers, as they have all season.
Sakerlina 30, Clemson 14
Willy Mac: Unlike my other two cohorts, I think this is going to go our way. I really do. There’s too much game film on them right now and they’ve never faced a defense as good as ours. I know that last statement is pretty bold, but I sincerely believe that we will be the toughest test they’ve faced all year. I think it will be a role reversal from last year where take it to them.
Clemson 28, Carolina 24

This week we extended a temporary olive branch as we heaved our questions over our twenty foot barricaded wall of doom to the sad little cretins waiting on the other side. Garnet and Black Attack, the only Carolina blog I can stomach, traded questions with us this week. Enjoy.
1) Lattimore has been banged up here and there all season. Is there any ailment at all he’s suffering from at all?
As far as I know, he’s 100% right now, or at least as close to it as you can expect at this point in the season. He suffered from a sprained ankle against Kentucky and a minor knee injury against Arkansas, but he was declared fully recovered before Florida and hasn’t had any problems since then.
