We have neglected to update you guys on the Macallan Cup standings because Chili is really busy with school work (I think that’s right) and I’m new to this. Anyways, here are the standings after Week 9′s games. And did anybody else almost get screwed by UNC and their almost loss to William and Mary? I know I did.

Line: Clemson -7
Edge goes to:
Clemson offense vs. Boston College defense: Clemson. Boston College lost two of their best defensive players in last week’s game against Maryland, which included their defensive captain and best defensive lineman, Alex Albright. So, unless the back-ups are just as talented, Clemson should have their way with Boston College’s defense.
Clemson defense vs. Boston College offense: Clemson. The Eagles are currently ranking last in the conference in total yards per game and points per game. The only way they can hope to score points will be off turnovers, but Clemson hasn’t turned the ball over since the Miami game, so good luck with that.
Special teams: Clemson. The Tigers are going to be the favorite here for the rest of the season until proven otherwise, Clemson is above average to great in all phases of special teams right now.
Intangibles: Push. It’s a noon game, no one gets up for a noon game, not the players and definitely not Boston College fans, all seven of them.
Our Panel of Monkey Enthusiasts Says:
Sambo: I still can’t get the image of last year’s game out of my head. At halftime, I leave the stadium and head to the car for a beer (and I’m pretty sure it was raining, but I’m almost positive it rained during every home game last season). As I’m walking, I’m trying to tally up how many yards Boston College had in that first half. In fact, I could only remember them getting one first down, but that was on a pass interference call. Sure enough, I look it up on my phone and Boston College had one first down and negative 5 yards of total offense at the half. Negative yardage. Incredible. Well, not much has changed between that squad and this one.
Clemson 31, Boston College 6
Chili: You know, it seems that Nuke Hopkins has stepped up at wide receiver, the running game is continuing to be a strong point along with our stout offensive line, and Da’Quan Bowers is channeling the late, great Gaines Adams. Not only this, but NC State upended Florida State last night, keeping alive the Tigers’ ACC Championship Game hopes. Everything seems to now be CLICKING ON ALL CYLINDERS for the Tigers who seemed so hapless earlier this season. Seems like the perfect setup for a trap game, right? Normally, yes, but I think BC is pretty damned bad this year. Bad enough that, even though I expect the Tigers to come out a little off their game, Clemson should still prevail in this one, but not by as close of a margin as we’d like to see.
Clemson 20, Boston College 10

Right before I posted last week’s Picks, I changed two of the picks, and both of them ended up being wrong, so instead of having a winning week of 6-4, I ended up going 4-6. The first pick I changed was going with Oklahoma over Missouri. I should have stayed with Missouri considering that the GameDay host team has yet to lose, even if they are the underdogs (cough, Sakerlina, cough). The second pick I changed was Georgia Tech covering the spread against Clemson and I did that for two reasons. First, the Clemson/GT is always close, so Clemson covering 5.5 points should have been tough considering the recent history of this series. And second, I picked GT to see if a “Reverse Jinx” would work. Well, it did. And who would have thought that it would have worked so well? Seriously? I didn’t.
Speaking of the Clemson/GT game, there were a couple things I took away from it that I thought were encouraging for this team. One, Daquan Bowers got a sack in the game against a run-first team with a very athletic quarterback. Two, that same quarterback was held to only two rushing yards against Clemson this weekend and is still the third leading rusher in the ACC (and by holding Nesbitt to only two yards, Clemson prevented him from breaking Woody Danztler’s ACC record for career rushing yards by a quarterback). Third, zero dropped passes by Clemson receivers. Zero! And lastly, despite the first half ending EXACTLY like the Auburn game (up 17-0, the opponent charges down field with little time left before halftime and they score a field goal to end the half, stealing a little momentum in the process), Clemson came out in the second half and didn’t let Georgia Tech do the same thing that Auburn did to the Tigers, which was dominate the third quarter and steal the game. However, I told my GT buddy about the resemblance to the Auburn game during halftime and he pointed out to me that Josh Nesbitt is Not Cam Newton, which probably made the difference in the outcome of the game. But it was definitely encouraging to see the Tigers dominate both sides of the ball, so let’s just hope they stop this “Jekyll and Hyde” play the rest of the season and just pick one way to play, crappy or awesome. Preferably awesome.
And with that, on to some foootbawl!

Former Clemson RB James Davis, cut by the Cleveland Browns earlier this week, has reportedly ended up on the Redskins practice squad. Davis tweeted yesterday that he was granted his wish by being released. You can hardly blame a guy for wanting to get out of Cleveland in the first place, but there’s got to be some added relief in the fact that he’s leaving a team whose illegal practicing tactics (common as they may be in the NFL) got him injured last year in the first place.
