After a week-long coaching search, Clemson appeared close to hiring Mississippi State’s Rick Stansbury a solid, yet not awe-inspiring coaching choice. Talks came down to the wire, but Clemson was ultimately rebuffed by Stansbury. It looks like early reports are showing that Stansbury’s buyout was the issue that ground negotiations to a halt. AIM’s Greg Wallace has a run-down here.

As to keeping Ron Bradley- they did that when they ran Trevor Adair off- kept a staffer for a season and made the big push a year later. I think that hire (Noonan) will work out well.

I hope that Clemson hires Shaka (two in the pink, one in the stink) Smart.
#1 That guy’s name is going to sell a shitload of t-shirts with “Los tres dedos de saludo”.
#2 TDP can’t get anyone else and is running this search like he’s the jet pilot and Clemson is half the Polish government.

Brad Brownwell is starting to look like our next basketball coach. Currently coaches at Wright State, and formerly of UNC-Wilmington when they made their three runs to the NCAA tourney. Solid coach, slow tempo offense, but plays aggressive defense. If they go with him he will not be good enough to save this years recruitting class though.
