"I don’t care if we win the division because not every team in America has the most obnoxious fans in the world for their rival like we do."

From that response, you're one to be talking. We went from meltdown mode to division champs his first year. It's a fucking start. Relax. Read post #3.

I hope that Dabo gets harrassed by fans all year at every speaking event he attends. He and the staff need to know how inexcuseable the loss to the chickens was, because honestly,if we had beaten GT after that debacle,it still wouldn't have erased all the bad feelings that surrounded that joke of an effort. If that's the kind of effort we can expect in the rivalry game,I don't care if we win the division because not every team in America has the most obnoxious fans in the world for their rival like we do. Anyway,I think CU goes 8 & 4 in 2010. Losses will be at Auburn,UNC,FSU,and Wake.

what did they serve for supper? I hope Chicken, Turkey, and gawdamn bees.

on the subject of toughness... I have heard that the staff is taking a gradual multi-step approach to putting some bite back into the bark. the staff was concerned if they went all the way to bright in one season, the players would quit.

would love to see Lavon Kirkland appointed to "Director of Football Attitude". Kinda like Terry Tate Office Linebacker. Just terrorizing players at will - "the pain train is coming"

Barker is the shit. Glad you said that even if you disagree with some of his agenda that you think he's fundamentally on the right track towards making Clemson better in the long run.

Also this:

"They talked to an extent about how well we’ve done (which in the broad picture means that we were doing what we should be doing to continue to be slightly better than average in every sport) and left out what we need to work on, what we’re missing, and what’s gone wrong in the past year and how they’re working to correct it."

I agree with you 100% that this is a problem. I've lived a bunch of places, and Clemson is the only place I've been where this attitude literally permeates everything. Maybe it's part of being in the Clemson "family" that you can't offer up hard but honest criticism of someone / something in order to improve it. It's one of the few things that Sakerlina fans have right about Clemson. We really do live in some kind of bubble where everything is spun to make Clemson out to be the best no matter what actually happened. I sort of took what you said a little out of context, but frankly it's the truth and we as a base need to nut up and start looking at things without the orange glasses sometimes. That being said, Clemson is still awesome and the best place I've ever been.

Hear hear, your not alone with those thoughts Willy Mac. Good write up. If only there was some way to get this across to the administration of both the University and IPTAY and have them actually work towards the goal of a greater Clemson, not only in athletics, but also in academics as well.

Very interesting post. I have one point of contention though in what Dabo said about us scoring the most points any Clemson football team ever had - we damn well should have because we were only two games short of an NFL season. If you can't outscore every other team in our history in 14 games then you've had a woeful year on offense. Other than that I like how he's committed to fielding a physical team. We have to build on that going forward.

Also, if we're focused on putting butts in seats the only way to go about that is to win. Sure you can do it other ways with this cutesy little event here and jumbotron video there but that's missing the forrest for the trees. My verdict is very much out on TDP - I think he's very content on playing the "under my watch football, basketball, baseball, blah blah went to the postseason". That all sounds great but there's no hardware in that. I just question how much he gives our coaches to let them be successful and his own acumen for hiring the best available when we have coaching jobs available.
