R.I.P. “MAC” MCKEOWN

A Clemson icon has passed.

Earlier tonight, Harold “Mac” McKeown, proprietor of Pendleton’s legendary Mac’s Drive-In, passed away at AnMed Healthcare Center.

The Anderson Independent-Mail has a small but good feature on the man here.

Just earlier today he was honored for his contributions to Clemson University and the community.

This is a shame. I’ve only eaten at Mac’s a few times, but every time I did Mac was in there with a good word. He was a good man, and will be missed.

Since graduating this is the one restraunt that when I drove by I had to stop. Mac’s was amazing, he always remembered your name, always had a story, and was the shit. Going to miss him.

Sad news is sad. Anyone know if they plan to stay in business? Living out in Central for 3 years made Mac’s a badass spot to stop and get a burger. He’ll be missed.

I can still remember my freshman year just still getting used to Clemson and moving into my dorms and my parents went out to get lunch and came back with a certain Mac’s Drive-In burger and it really stapled that initial Clemson feeling I have to this day. Thanks Mac.

That is sad, I used to love the stank eye he would give when someone came in there and ordered a milkshake.
