I don’t think Harper would be seen as being a bust if he hadn’t have been so highly ranked coming out of high school. He can be a good one, he’s only a sophomore. Ellington has looked better though so far. My only knock on Harper is he runs softer than CJ or Ellington but outweighs them by what, 30-40 lbs? He needs to be a power back instead of a finesse back in a power body. That being said I don’t think any of us would like to go against him in Oklahoma….

@ 11: Absolutely THANKS FOR NOTHING, Rob Spence. Had Davis, Spiller, Ford, Grisham, Kelly, and Palmer at his disposal and really squandered that. I still get pissed at the year we had Proctor at QB. Despite Proctor not being too good, we should have steamrolled the ACC that year with that OL and backfield…especially that bullshit loss to SC that year, too.

@10: Retiring his number? Who is Swinney to retire a number? I get, appreciate and downright [i]adore[/i] what Spiller has done for this team but who is Swinney to be retiring numbers?

Thanks for nothing, Rob Spence. Had you pulled your head out of your ass just once maybe you could have used Spiller for the previous 3 yrs and I wouldn’t question retiring his number. As it is, 28 will likely always be associated with Spiller because it’s not a popular number like a 57 or 51 but still this is too much. Do not attempt to retire his number.

What was Terry Allen’s number? 21? Retire that one instead.

Harper played pretty well this year. He does need some coaching, just like the rest of the RB’s. I thought early this year even CJ seemed to be running up the ass of the OL and wasn’t a patient runner.
Back to Harper, it just seems that he picks the most inopportune times to fumble the goddamn ball. I wanted to nail it to his fucking hand on Saturday.

Harper has improved allot this year. When he runs straight ahead he looks as good as advertised. He has done that most of the time the second half of the season. Obviously he didn’t do that last game. But, in his defense SCAR went right thru our OL like a knife thru hot butter all day. Kyle Parker ran for his life, all day and when he didn’t our receivers were running around like the 3 stooges. Everyone wants to know why the wildcat and pretty much any form of QB run work so well, our LB’s are not playing good at all. But I still say we beat Tech, that is what is important this year.

@4,5 I think Harper will develop. The fumbles are pretty ridiculous, once those are out of the way everything will be copacetic. Anybody who has watched him in preseason has seen him be an absolute beast, even against our defense. He needs to go from being a practice all-star to an actual one. Nobody can predict whether or not that’ll happen, but the talent is there.
