Edge goes to:

Clemson offense vs. Sakerlina defense: Clemson

Clemson defense vs. Sakerlina offense: Clemson

Special teams: Push – They more than likely won’t kick it right at us, and our kicking isn’t so hot right now

Intangibles: Carolina – The game determines where they land in the Bowlosphere.

Our Panel of XXX Brand Moonshine Drinkers Says:

Chili: Ooh. Got a bad feeling about this one. The mantra down in Columbia for the losers was always "Clemson cares about it more than us" which was a bullshit excuse. I’ve seen this statement validated in a couple recent articles covering the Cocks where they say they’re going to try and start putting more focus on the game. The fact that they’ve had bye weeks several times lately just before the Clemson game is a little too convenient to be a coincidence. I think the last time they had one before us was ’07, a Tiger victory, so it’s not like the extra week of reset and preparation is a cure all to their suckitude. However, I think this year they have everything riding on this game and while Clemson is surely focused on it as well despite our ACCCG appearance looming in the horizon, they’ll be coming to play more so than they have in the past. Sakerlina fans have been acting like this is the biggest game in the program’s history; a real turning point. Win or lose, it isn’t.  Maybe I’m underestimating Dabo’s ability to focus the team here. I hope that I am, but I think some guys will still be looking ahead to Tampa. Sakerlina has a dangerous defense. Perhaps the best we’ve faced thus far other than TCU’s. Kyle Parker is due for a stumble (That’s a bullshit made up statement to support my case. Yeah…) and our kicking game still isn’t the least bit confidence-inspiring. On the plus side, the Cocks sport a questionable offensive line that should have our defense salivating. I think it’ll be a real battle, but I think we have match up advantages on defense and the return game to take this one.

Clemson 17, Sakerlina 15

Willy Mac: Not to sound too homerish, but people are far too worried about this game than they should be. The players and coaches know how important this game is. Dabo & company “get it.” Dabo went to Bama so he’s not going to let a rivalry game go ill-prepared. The players know what’s ahead and they’ve been saying all week how much more focused they are this week than any of the previous. Carolina has a crap offense and a darn good defense. We have a pretty good offense and a hell of a defense. They’ve got the weapons to beat us, but I think Spurrier is just too stubborn and strictly still doesn’t care about South Carolina as long as they keep paying him the big money. It will be close on the field, but not as much on the scored board. People are saying that this game is more important this year for the Cocks than it is for Clemson. To that I respond that it was the same story when Lou Holtz constantly dragged a five win team seeking a bowl berth into this game. Same old Gamecock story.

Clemson 24, Sakerlina 14

I too kind of have a not-so-good feeling about this game. It’s hard to not overlook USC because of the conference championship on the horizon but I think Dabo and the staff will have them dialed in. I don’t think this will be our best performance of the year by any means, but we can probably do enough to win. I expect USC to challenge us downfield with their tall receivers but we’re loaded in the secondary; they’re not worth a damn on the ground. Also, it’s USC – we’ve come to expect a win in this one; how can you not?

  2. 2William.BrownNo Gravatar on Nov 27, 2009 at 4:39 pm:

We must beat them. This is the most important game of the year. It will be a tight game that I think is a coin flip. I do like our offense against their defense – but Steele will have to be ready for their offense. They will be ready. Go Tigers.

  3. 3JasonLNo Gravatar on Nov 27, 2009 at 7:13 pm:

Clearly, Chili isn’t “ALL IN.” I’m convinced and am now firmly “ALL IN.” I have complete faith in the defense (who kept us in those early season games despite the offense). They will rip the cock heads off. I have faith in Spiller, Ford, Parker and Palmer.
Clemson wins by two TDs. Garcia meets the dirt at least 5 times this game.

  4. 4CheapskateNo Gravatar on Nov 27, 2009 at 10:20 pm:

Carolina will score 2 or 3 times (that they really shouldn’t) using trick plays and/or on busted coverage. However, Garcia will be picked AT LEAST TWICE annd sacked 4 or 5 times. It’ll be close for the first half but Clemson will pull away in the second. 42-24.

  5. 5A770TigerNo Gravatar on Nov 27, 2009 at 10:46 pm:

Rivalry factor says 24-17, but I think we make it 35-14 if everyone is truly focused.
    GO TIGERS!!!

We got the shit beat out of us…..Damn embarrassing….I can stand losing to Wake, FSU, teams like that, but Sakerlina you gotta fucking hear about it for years on end….Goddamnit I hate losing to those bastards….End rant.

  15. 15flacctNo Gravatar on Nov 28, 2009 at 5:42 pm:

Any loss to them sucks, but the way they just ran the ball right down our throat was like a damn prison style buttfucking. Here’s to hoping that getting punched in the face will motivate us to work harder like it did last time.

I really should be more upset right now, but I am so damn excited about a chance to win the ACC.

Further evidence that our finesse football team does not match up well against teams that play fundamental football. But holy fuckin’ God, Carolina?!?! Gotta wonder if the team wasn’t distracted with Ga.Tech looming. I’m the rare Clemson fan who’d rather lose the conference than lose to those pathetic fuckers in cola….I hate them and most of their obnoxious fans. Dabo better remember what kept bowden’s sorry ass here for so long…he beat Carolina. Tired, depressed, gittin’ drunk…fuck it!

  18. 18chris simpNo Gravatar on Nov 28, 2009 at 9:29 pm:

@17 You are right about Tommy, beating Sakerlina every year helped him keep a paycheck, and it sure does suck to lose to a low ball SEC team that acts like they are world beaters becuz they play in the SEC. But i will hand it to them, they kick our Ass…

  19. 19Willy MacNo Gravatar on Nov 28, 2009 at 10:07 pm:

Hats off to SC. They beat the complete dog shit out of us. It was as if our two teams traded roles. We weren’t even thinking about USC. Clemson wasn’t even at that game.

  20. 20DanielNo Gravatar on Nov 28, 2009 at 10:26 pm:

Fucking ruined my damn day. We had better get super pissed after this debacle and come out swinging against those bastards from Georgia Tech. Fuckin’ USC!??! No damn way we should have lost like that.

  21. 21JasonlNo Gravatar on Nov 28, 2009 at 10:35 pm:

Hope these guys remember this loss and that it haunts them for years to come. Got whupped something good. Carolina came inspired and decided to play. Meanwhile, the Tigers did exactly what Parker told Greg Wallace post-game: team got “a little cocky in its preparation” and “kind of just showed up and thought we’d put the pads on and that we were better than them, and they played better than us today”
    Total shitty day.

lol! it’s too funny how the shamecocks win one game against an opponent who obviously was barely acknowledging their existence, and suddenly they feel like they mean something.

THIS PROVES SEC ALWAYS IS SUPERIOR TO ACC is the number one phrase I’m getting

  26. 26clemNo Gravatar on Nov 29, 2009 at 6:37 am:

@21, did he ACTUALLY say that?! Damn, you would hope not as he is one of the leaders on the team and all Dabo and the rest of the team preached all week is that they were not looking past SC. God that game sucked, of course, I wouldn’t know as I turned it off when we couldn’t recover a fumble that was handed to us in the first half.

  29. 29A770TigerNo Gravatar on Nov 29, 2009 at 10:57 am:

What a perfect shit-storm. Everything went their way, and even when we caught a break it still went their way because our players had zero focus and zero effort—CJ, Jacoby, and Michael Palmer are excluded from this as they clearly put their hearts into it. This is totally deflating and I just have no confidence in our team. How in the hell do you get so full of yourself after learning the hard way what that can do to you (see lesson from Maryland). I honestly feel this team is Top-10 caliber when they play hard, but something’s still very wrong when they think they can just get by against their rivals and the coaches don’t drag their asses back to reality. That makes me think the coaches were overconfident too. I’m really not looking forward to the ACCCG.

Its Sunday and I still hate this loss, and hearing it from cola fans.

  31. 31lolaNo Gravatar on Nov 29, 2009 at 1:26 pm:

You notice how the mediocre SEC teams always have to refer to their conference. Like they have nothing else to be proud of except they are perennial whipping posts…

  32. 32penthouse tigerNo Gravatar on Nov 29, 2009 at 5:44 pm:

I’m not even excited about the ACC championship game. To me, the GT game is the team’s chance to prove to me that saturday was a fluke. If we play against the Jackets like we played against the Cocks then you can be damn sure I’ll be calling for Billy Napier and anyone else I deem responsible’s head louder than the homeriest t-netter. If you lose to Carolina that’s one thing, but to get a mudhole stomped into your ass like we did saturday, thats ridiculous.

    end rant (for now)

    Ich bin ein gamecock.

Now I know what it feels to be truly a gamecock – dominated and demoralized. First time in many moons where the orange folks left the stadium before the garnet folks.

There is hope. We are one win away from the orange bowl. All my C’Nati homeboys are jawing for a Clemson/Cincinnati showdown in Miami. That’s the only thing that matters at this point – move forward and win the damn Championship.

Yesterday is history. Beat GT on Saturday !!

  34. 34DixieTiger2008No Gravatar on Nov 29, 2009 at 7:32 pm:

I live with two chicks who received degrees from USuCk. I am sure I will hear comments like “SEC>ACC.” They will brag, brag, brag like it is the greatest accomplishment ever. I truly hate Carolina. Every ounce of my blood is boiling orange.

Their people have NO class. Zero. Nada! The pictures of their players with that trophy: a bunch of damn ugly thugs. What the hell is wrong with us!? I don’t care what others say, the Carolina game is the biggest one of the year. Period! It means more to beat them than the number one team in the country (something they will never be, alias Navy in ’84).

We had better blister Ga. Tech and whoever we play in the Orange Bowl (if we get there). I hope that we play someone in the Big 12 like Texas (if they lose to Nebraska) or Bama and then mop the freakin field with them. That is the only half-consolation that we have. Anything less is unacceptable.

Ummm ouch!! Didn’t see that one coming. Those hurt the worst. But, how many of you said you would trade beating SCAR for an ACC Championship? I know I did. Clemson looked past SCAR, a team with good athletes whose whole season was riding on a game that they had two weeks to prepare for, at home, the Old Ball Sack even said so himself after the game. Also, he had a little extra motivation in that he is running out of excuses and time. Hell, GT looked past Georgia, they didn’t show up either. Alabama actually looked past Auburn and barely pulled it out at the end. Dabo seemed to learn allot from the Maryland loss, now he will know how bad it is to lose to SCAR.

If we win the ACC, that is what will be remembered for years. It is hard for SCAR fans to bring up the past, can’t hardly get past the fact that they only beat us every 4 or 5 years.

  37. 37dwight_clark87No Gravatar on Nov 30, 2009 at 2:43 pm:

Ah well, what are you going to do? The fates (bye week, etc.) certainly aligned and allowed USC to beat Clemson. Hopefully some USC fan’s dying USC fan grandfather got to watch it before he died.

I was struck by something as the commentators were going over various things to try to make the game interesting: the number of Spurrier’s SEC championships at Florida were shown in a graphic. Curiously missing was how many times he won against FSU. In the long run, no one will give a shit about this loss, especially if Clemson can pull it together and win the ACCCG.
