Line: Clemson -8.5

Edge goes to:

Clemson offense vs. Florida State defense: Slight edge to the Tigers

Clemson defense vs. Florida State offense: Push

Special teams: Clemson

Intangibles: Clemson, though Mickey Andrews’ announcement that he’s retiring after this year my add a little fire to the Noles Defense.

Our Panel of  Non-Interlocking Puzzle Pieces Says:

Willy Mac: I’ve been waiting for this game since the schedule came out earlier this year. This is my favorite game of the entire year and I’m sure I speak for most of you as well when I say that. I think that we match up perfectly with the Noles and we each compliment the other very well. I’m not holding my breath for a defensive battle here though. Like we said earlier in the week, penalties will play a major factor in this game and might be the deciding factor when it’s all over. I think the Noles once again dig themselves into an unthinkable grave, then spend the second half nearly pulling themselves back out. We nearly give this one away. Seminoles miss a field goal to tie with minutes to spare.

Chili: Thank God, a night game in Death Valley. I’ve had an odd feeling about this game since the start of the season, and my gut tells me that we’re going to drop this one, but I am going to stick with the hope I have that Dabo has the Tigers in a different mindset than the Bowden years and pick the Tigers to win in a thriller. Mickey Andrews firing up his defense or not, I don’t think they’re capable of shutting down our offense. I think FSU comes in with a smart scheme against our formidable defense and Christian Ponder has yet another solid game, though perhaps marred by a DeAndre McDaniel interception (considering D-Mac’s season, it’s a pretty safe bet). This game ends up closer than it ought to be. Or we lose. Or we beat the tar out of them. Who knows, anything could happen. That’s why they play the game, right??? nudge nudge nudge

Is that the first half prediction? 70-66 Clemson wins with a walk-off TD.

Clemson is due for a let-down and FSU is due for a “big” win. Based on the decades long history, I will err on the side of mediocrity: Clemson loses in a way only the tigers can
    Tigers: 20
    FSU: 21

I trust our defense to handle just about any team’s offense, no matter how good they are. Even against Miami, the U scored a lot of points but our defense got a lot of big plays as well. So I don’t see Ponder continuing his streak of ridiculousness that he’s been on lately, and I don’t think FSU can win any game without a huge day from Ponder. Clemson rolls, 28-6 with a couple of scores coming from defense and special teams.

I see this as a tight game that Clemson will ultimately win. I hope I am wrong and that it turns into a Clemson blow-out of FSU, as FSU has had just a horrible year. I’d like to see Chuck Amato brought to tears.

@2 -Oh shit, JasonL. Does that mean you will be back to “doom and gloom” mode all during the game in the open forum? I hope not. Be a Tigger, not an Eeyore.

Not worried about this one for some reason. Reminds me of the GT game when Gameday came and we ripped them a new one. FSU has a bad defense and a bit of a one-dimensional offense. Ponder’s going to take some shots and McDaniel will be roaming in the secondary. Crowd will be a great bonus too. We’ll see how much of a change in mindset has occurred from this team and the one’s prior to it in the next 3 weeks. I think if we get past the Wolfpack next week we’re good. I can see us going up there, not respecting our opponent, and really having a tough time.

If Bowers was healthy I’d say Clemson 52 – Noles 24.
    Since he’s out I’ll go Clemson 45 – Noles 31.
I’d take Clemson 2-0 as long as we don’t shit the bed and lose on national TV. Again.
