AFTERNOON WEDNESDAY FODDER

  • Dwayne Allen has a new outlook on the rest of his Clemson football career.  I don’t see how anyone on the team can be unhappy, especially given the recent Humphries drama.  Just be glad that you have a free scholarship to get a great education at a large, respected university.
  • Swinney was featured in a puff piece about not looking past MTSU. Let’s be honest though, as soon as we’re two touchdowns up on them the focus shifts to Tech.  It will be interesting to see two former Clemson WR coaches duke it out.
  • Our special teams, sans field goals and extra points, is doing just fine.  Zimmerman is holding the fort down at the punting position.
  • A few good players across the ACC were asked (at media days, I’m assuming) a few items on opposing fans, stadiums, towns, etc. Clemson showed up most in the “Best Fans” and “Most Intimidating Stadium” sections a lot. Oh yeah, I got a kick out of Duke DT Vince Oghobaase. Kind of an assholish response but dude is 6’6″, 310 pounds, and is projected as a first rounder in next year’s draft so I guess he’s got some ground to act like that. That or he is just a few pistons short of an engine which I can totally see as he’s a product of the Houston area school system. Anyways, here’s what he said:

MOST INTIMIDATING STADIUM: “Clemson is pretty loud.”

FAVORITE STADIUM: Our own

FAVORITE ACC TOWN: None

BEST FANS: Duke

MOST HOSTILE FANS: Clemson or Virginia Tech

I’m suprised he didn’t say Wallace Wade is intimidating, hell playing in front of no one, and being able to hear your coaches yell at you as mess up, time and time again would be a little nerve wracking

Like anyone’s ever hostile towards Duke football, better off saying the Duke bball fans are the most hostile towards them

Yeah Dukes environment sucks, but the design of the stadium is cool. It was the Rose bowl back during the war, when they relocated it to the east during WW II. Don’t get me wrong Clemson has the best stadium in the ACC (I’ve been to all but BC, please someone state your case) by far, but Dukes design is ok, for a highschool game. I went to the game Clemson actually lost back in what like 2005? or 06? up there in Dukie country. They had the guy that inspiried the movie The Rookie (about the like 45 year old pitcher with Dennis Quaid I believe was in it) speak before the game. If someone could find the footage of Duke fans storming the field after beating Clemson that day, that’d be great. It was like 3 people at the center of the field. Ive never seen anything more pathetic. Might even beat out all the Rebel Flags that the Cocks proudly display during Gameday broadcasts.
