Before the ND complaints come in, it’s inevitable that they’ll be ranked, given their schedule this year. Preemptive strike.

I think it’s reasonable… I think FSU at 25 might be a spot or two low, but then again 20-25 is a toss up every week anyway.

I don’t agree with ND or FSU being in the preseason top 25, the problem is I don’t know any teams that should be in those spots. I guess I need to know if this is a poll thinking who is the best teams now, or who will be the best teams at the end of the season? Because I don’t feel that a weak schedule should all ND to rise into the top ten, and I seriously have no clue what to think of FSU.
Maybe replace them with FIU & NC A&T?

This is a poll that means nothing, with zero research put into it, that is attempting to rank where teams are right now, not at the end of the season.

@3 FSU is going to have a good running game and because of that a B+ offense. The defense is the problem in Tally this season. Run D is bad, pass D is bad.

SC is a little bit too high at #3. They’ve got a brand new qb who still needs to prove himself on the field. Still top-10, but maybe more like #8.
I hate to say this, but Ohio State should be higher. Maybe give them and SC a switch.

My only complaint is that UGA is a few spots too high. Also glad you’re supporting Brett and the Vikes with me this year!

UGA at 12? Really? I don’t care that you have UGA higher than Tech or you have us at 16. But at 12? No way in hell.

I might move GT up one. I think they’re probably a top 10-15 team. FSU sounds like they make be okay this year. Then, again, Miami thinks they’re going to surprise everyone. . .

I think LSU is two or three spots low. I would easily rate them over So. Cal and Penn State. Also, Oregon is way too high at 14th. I would have them between 20th and 25th just because they have a “new” head coach and lost a lot of senior players last year. They also open the season up with Boise State @ Boise State.

I’d move SC below Oklahoma. Not sure if Nebraska should be 21 but meh, who cares.

I’d move SC down below OU, since the QB position is still a question there. Its a fair bet that they’ll roll through most of their schedule either way though.
Even though I think Ole Piss is going to be this years Clemson, they’ve got a proven QB and a good OL, so I’d have to move them over UGA since the Pups lost too much on offense.
I would move TCU down a few because they lost 8 starters on defense, and that’s what carries them for the most part. Utah is the better team, Iowa who knows.

@12 – Not to be an asshole, but you sound really tnettish with the nicknames man.

UNC off the list, Georgia Tech higher like at 12, Georgia lower somewhere around 20, SCal below Oklahoma and Alabama.

LSU too low? They have no proven QB and that D was awful last year. Certainly, they project to not be nearly as bad on D this year, but calling them top 5 is suspect.
I also don’t understand why Utah is getting so much love considering their attrition on offense. Their QB, his top three WRs, and their best RB are all gone. They’ll probably be fine on D, but I wouldn’t expect them to be top 25 material.

I dont like Oklahoma at #4 new offensive line, and while their guys are probably more talented than ours, i’ve seen this before

@ 16, they aren’t putting freshman in there. I was skeptical, and apparently these dudes all have snaps and are monsters. I’m less skeptical right now. I’d say they stay at 4 by default. They are realistically a top 5 team.
I think UGA over GT is meh. UGA has the better statistics and a bowl win to end the season. GT beat UGA, but then got royally exposed by LSU. It’s really a non-issue until they start playing honestly.
I’d slide VT down a few. Maybe to 14. The loss of Evans puts so much pressure on Tyrod to make plays. I know they have stud RB’s waiting, but they aren’t proven. I think between the 3 they might have 20 yds total for their careers at VT.
Get Notre Dame out of there. I’m sick of them being the benefit of “oh well, they might as well with that schedule” I’d like to wait till they win some games before giving them props.

@14 UNC off the list? Why? I think you’re probably in the minority on that opinion. GT will probably move on up, I’ll bump em a couple notches. But, hell, they should get points taken away for taking a team photo with cars from Transformers 2.
@15 I don’t think Utah at 18 is “giving them love” as much as it is trying to fill out a preaseason top 25 when nobody has played yet.
As I said before, you’re wasting your time whining about ND. I dislike them as much as anyone but they’re gonna be up there, might as well be up there now.
I’m not worried about Southern Cal’s QB situation. They’re Southern Cal.
Bumped Oregon down a bit.

@ Chili, like Randy Shannon at Miami, I’m just not sold on Butch Davis at UNC. They’re supposed to break out every year. I like his recruiting skills, but not so much his coaching. Their QB is injury prone, plus they have an inexperienced WR group like ourselves. VT and GT will be too strong for UNC; that’s two losses right off the bat. Looking at their schedule, it’s probably the worst in the ACC. I know a lot of people are on their bandwagon right now so I guess it would make sense to have them on a pre-season poll.
