SCHEDULE-RAMA 1 OF 3

This season rather than break all the games down at once like we have in years past, we figure we’d be extra careful this year after being bit by the dog last year and just do a few games at a time. There for we bring you the first of three installments in this season preview mega extravaganza blowout sale.

September 5 – Middle Tennessee State University
Good ole cupcake to start off the season 24 days from now. MTSU coach Rick Stockstill spent time at Clemson and Sakerlina before heading up the Blue Raiders.

Chili – DON’T CARE

Willy Mac – You really can’t find a bigger asshole than Rick Stockstill.  I guess that’s why he’s coaching at Bum Fuck U.  The only reason I do care is because Clemson did it right this time by starting off the season with a 6pm game rather than a baby-killing-hot noon game. We roll easily.

September 10 – @Georgia Tech
Dwyer vs. Spiller. The Tigers travel to Atlanta for this Thursday matchup.

Chili – I think Clemson did well against PJ’s scheme last year, considering the coaching change the same week. With our defense being the assumed strength of the team, I think we’ll again see a good handling of the option to a point. Right now I’d have to give this one to Tech just based on Clemson’s current team being such an unknown quantity versus the option with another year under PJ’s belt.

Willy Mac – Georgia Tech’s offense, when given enough time to prepare for, can be easily dismantled (Re: LSU in the Peach Bowl). Four days isn’t enough time though and you know as well as I do that Atlanta has been a quicksand pit for us as Clemson fans dating back to, uh, well the Peach Bowl when we played Tennessee (2003?).  I think Paul Johnson is a good coach and he’s definitely got more experience under his belt than ours.  Then again, Dabo did beat Spurrier. We’ve got a stellar defense (or so I’ve been led to believe), but too shaky of an offense.  Enough banter: We lose another close one in Atlanta due to our own ineptitude.

September 19 – Boston College
The series that’s given us some extremely competitive games of late continues in Clemson this year.

Chili - I think BC is going to be a bit down this year. Clemson wins another competitive game against the Eagles.

Willy Mac – Boston College is definitely down this year, having lost a bunch of their senior leaders on the team.  There are too many glaring holes on their offense.  Take our offense and then put it into worst case scenario mode: That’s what they’re starting out with.  They’re going to have good lines on both side of the ball, but our lines will be better.  And if that’s not enough, we have a guy on our team who is experienced in snapping BC players’ fucking femurs like toothpicks. So, yeah. We win.

September 26 – TCU
Clemson beefed up their out of conference schedule tremendously with the addition of the Horned Frogs.

Chili – I’m a proponent of tougher out-of-conference schedules, so I got a kick out of seeing TCU added in to replace Central Michigan. TCU looks to have a strong season, and I think the Horned Frogs take this one, much to the ire of cupcake aficionados.

Willy Mac – Not to be a “cupcake aficianado” but Texas Christian is also down this year based on player experience.  People also get the idea that they’re some kind of powerhouse team just because they’re out of Texas and they have 10+ wins a year.  Well, we can’t say much with our win total but whatever.  They’ve lost a ton of talent, most of which was on defense.  We win this one by 7-10.

We go a perfect 4-0 because Dabo don’t believe in losing. It ain’t part of his religion and thats the way he likes it.

IN reality I see us possibly going 3-1, with the loss coming at the hands of GT. Which more in likely will not be a close game, as it is on a Thursday, and we haven’t won a Thursday game since Thursday was invented

Not true, we dominated NC State at their place I think in like 2004.

@ 2: It was 2005, but reality is we suck on Thursdays and Georgia Tech eats that shit up.

i can definitely see a 3-1 if the offense can stay on the field so our defense doesn’t have to play 45 minutes a game.

do i need to play the part of Tom and say 2-2 at best, 1-3 is most likely? Johnson will eat us alive because he’s so totally awesome and we hired a shoe salesman for a coach and blah blah blah oh, my anus just fell out of my pants…

Honestly, I hope for 3-1 but feel it’ll be 2-2 with losses at GaTech and TCU

    This is Will everybody.

Which reminds me, you tailgating this year? I’d love to hear comments like this before every game.

I also think 2-2 (1-1 ACC) is probable, but will most fans? How bad is it going to feel after that fourth game? Winning the 5th (Maryland) will set the tone for the season. If we lose to MD, it could get ugly, quick. (By ugly I mean it will not only hurt to watch us play but also all of the T-net fanatics will be doom and gloom for the rest of the season.)

I can see us going 8-4 (5-3 ACC) with losses to GT, TCU, FSU, and Miami.

Of course, I’m already calling for a 7-5 (4-4) season. So I guess we’ll lose to Wake, NC State or Maryland.

Also, if we’re relying on Jacoby Ford at all, we’re in trouble. Our delicate flower is already ‘hurt,’ and we haven’t run the first play.

We need to stay grounded this season. 8-4 with a first year QB and no highlight receiver would be great. 7-5 and 6-6 should be expected. 5-7 would be disappointing. 4-8 is un-fucking-acceptable.

@6 – Am I tailgaiting? You goon. Of course I am. Moved to the heisman lot beside Fike.

I don’t see how anything less than 10 wins is deemed acceptable. What did we fire Tommy for if less than 10 is acceptable?

That’s not to say that we will. We have some pretty big holes to fill, but we’re not any less talented overall than we have been. If we can stop dropping games to Wake and Maryland, we’ll be in pretty good shape. If coaching is the only thing we’ve been missing, well, why would we dampen our expectations now?

That said, I’m terrified of the prospect of facing another Tony Franklin-led offense to start the season (MTSU).

I am going to be optimistic and say we’re 3-1 after the first four. GT is the game I think we’ll lose but I think Steele will have something cooked up against them. I just don’t think we’ll move it much on them. BC and TCU should be slugfests but I think our defense will keep them in check while our offense squeaks out just enough plays to give us wins.

If we lose to BC this year it’s just a damn abomination. After all the unrest they’ve had and their QB transferring, Herlizch getting cancer….they just CAN’T be good this year.

GT lost 3 of their front 4 on defense and I think that gives us an edge in the running game, since CJ has a decent chance if he’s one on one with a linebacker… i say 3-1 with a loss to either GT or TCU, not ready to say which. GT seems more probable but Dick Bumpass scares the shit out of me

In all honesty this is just a blind guessing game at this time. We have no clue what Dabo is really going to throw at teams when the time comes on offense OR defense. I am thinking 3-1, but who knows, we could be 4-0 or 1-3.

CJ will throw 60-yard touchdown passes to himself and we will end up going 5-0 over our first four games. DABOKOOLAIDINTERGALACTICPLANETARYALLINFIREROBSPENCEDABODABO

2-2 loss to TCU and Gtech

Nice preview guys. Just ask Maryland – you know that same team you guys lost to last year – what a cupcake Middle Tennessee is. Guessing you didn’t do much research on that. As a matter of fact, the Blue Raiders dominated both lines of scrimmage in that game and the outcome was never really in doubt. Middle Tenn led 24-7 midway through the second half and put it on cruise control from there. But I guess Maryland sucks…not sure what that says about Clemson.

  17. 17Willy MacNo Gravatar on Aug 15, 2009 at 8:36 pm:

That’s some nice Gamecock logic you’ve got there Cbass. You guys aren’t that good. I’m sorry. We all know it.

We started blowing our lead against Maryland the second Spence/Koenning got scared and stopped calling the game with any balls. That one reverse made VK freak out and bleed us slowly for the rest of the game. Maryland took over the game in the second half when they figured out that Spence wasn’t going to challenge them deep AT ALL.

Maryland had no business losing that game against MTSU either. That game was never 24-7, for one, and Maryland had the ball in the MTSU half of the field like four times in the last quarter alone. Napoleon Dynamite managed to throw two picks to seal the deal.
