Football
- Clemson picks up it’s first 2011 recruit in the form of Daniel High School’s Deshaun Williams at defensive line. Nice to get a big corn fed kid to commit.
- ESPN’s Heather Dinich has more faith in us this season than I do. She also has a lot more faith in our fans to not get antsy and bring down the ban hammer on Dabo. I see the natives getting restless after two average years.
“I think three seasons is the usual fair amount. This year will still be somewhat of a transition with two new coordinators and several other staff changes, plus it could take a while for either Kyle Parker or Willy Korn to truly take hold of the offense. It also depends how restless the boosters get. Considering the talent still on the roster, though, there’s no reason for Clemson not to be in the hunt for the Atlantic Division THIS year.” – Heather Dinich
- Finally, there is some positive press covering Willy Korn. This article is definitely worth a read and it has a ton of great quotes from Willy.

- ***NEW*** – The Sporting Gnomes responded to our post and the Heater Dinich comments with their own expectations and needs from Dabo. I agree completely with a few exceptions: 1) No major scandals; 2) No drop off or damage to the foundation that Bowden built.
- ***NEW*** – ClemPson dammit found some videos from spring ball via FSN South.
Baseball
- There could be some major fallout on the Tiger’s baseball team due to this year’s MLB draft, but Paul Strelow sets things straight in this article. The coaches seem to think things are only going to get better next year as well.
- Casey Harman (pitcher) and Brad Miller (infield) were both invited to the USA National team try-outs.
Straggler links
- Former Clemson Golf All-American Kevin Johnson won his second Nationwide Tour event. This almost guarantees him a spot on the PGA tour next year.
- Former Clemson soccer stand out Oguchi Onyewu is catching some racist heat overseas. But wait, I thought racism was only in the South and that we’re all savages down here… Good for the guy making this public. I love it when foreigners call us idiots and try to hold us to high standards.

Willy Mac, there’s a really good Outside the Lines report from a couple years ago before the World Cup dealing with the intense racism that African players face in Europe and how FIFA is trying to deal with it. Look it up on You Tube if you guys are interested.
It is funny how the world casts a bad eye on the USA for being so racist and all, but Europe has had huge problems with the increasing influx of African and Muslim immigrants. I’m glad Onyewu is taking a stand.
Also, I’m glad Willy Korn is making some great progress, and it just shows what kind of competitor he is. I still am worried about how he or Parker will fair this season, but everyone has to admit that it’s nice to finally have some competition at the QB position.

It’s nice to have a coach who will actively allow a QB competition and not just sit on his hands all year.

Willy Korn is about to make an EXTREME COMEBACK!
Oh, I know you think he never left, but he didn’t score a touchdown on every play last year. So, Korn has gone through extensive rehab for this self-proclaimed unforgivable lapse in perfection.
I am so freaking ready for football. It’s on, bitches!

Also, nice to have a coach who does not laugh like Roscoe P. Coltrane during press conferences.

racism in soccer is pretty big actually. those fans take smack talk and jeering to a whole nother level, as if racism is a part of the fan experience… haha
Onyewu was quite impressive in the USA vs Italy game, keeping the defending world champs to just shooting long range and definitely away from the center. He was probably the only decent one on our squad that match.
Sigh…do I give in to the “CLEMSONS GOT IT THIS YEAR” hype or no…i think I will when the season nears

@5 just gaze into Korn’s eyes in the picture above. Everything is going to just fine.

So…how badly injured is Jacoby “Mr. Glass” Ford? That’s 50% of our offense right there.

What’s really going to hurt is when CJ pulls a hamstring in the middle of the GT game. Ford will be fine for the season, but will probably be knocked out in the first quarter of the GT game after a shuffle pass.
Oh, and Ford is only about 45%. CJ is also 45%. Rendrick Taylor, Harper, Parker, and Korn are 10%.
That’s why we lose 12-9 against GT.

Jacoby might be our most important player on offense this fall. Spiller is our best and most talented, but if Ford gets hurt we’re going to have an inexperienced QB throwing to inexperienced WRs. With all of the intricacies of route running, timing, etc. we really need him to stay on the field and give us some sort of passing threat and consistency.

Ford’s supposed to be back to full strength by the MTSU game.

i’m just glad we have the mtsu game to work out any kinks before getting thrown into the fire like we did against bammer last year
