I think Parker will in the end go pro in baseball…But I will give him the edge right now over Korn at QB, but I’m not crowning him king yet, we still have a long way to go, and who knows what might happen.

I think a season and a half of baseball and one spring game totally qualify Parker as Clemson’s greatest ever athlete. Fuck Banks McFadden, Charlie Waters, Terry Kinard, Kirkland, Cunningham Wise, Benson et al. Did they outplay God in the spring game? No they didn’t. If Brock Lesnar, Joe Montana, pre-roid Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, the Roadrunner, Han Solo, Chuck Norris, Gen. MacArthur and the fucking Hamburglar had a big drunk naked pig pile orgy, the resulting bastard love baby…WOULD GET HIS FUCKING ASS BEAT BY KYLE PARKER AND WOULDN’T HAVE NEARLY AS LARGE A DICK!!!!

No way man, Travis Zachary is the best athlete in Clemson history. Not only did T-Zach set the total touchdowns record ever, but he had the tenacity AND the temerity to sell drugs within 100 feet of a school. Let’s all have a moment of silence for this proud hero. Futhermore, T-Zach made the initial-abbreviation thing cool before A-Roid started juicing.

I’d like to point out that Kyle Parker has nothing on Trebble Reese. I remember watching ol’Reese stand on the sideline, carrying the clip board around with him, man he was the best clip board holder there ever was. Not to mention he was the greatest player to ever touch an intramural field…

@1 – Barring a huge change in either his position (to catcher) or his approach (not happening), Kyle Parker will play as many innings in the Major League as you and I will.
@12 – Really?
Do you really think Banks McFadden was a better athlete than like 100 of the guys we’ve had in the modern era?
I mean let’s be real here. The guy was great and all for his era, but can’t we logically and realistically compare? Without the weight training, nutritional training, specialized training that guys have today, you think McFadden could be put in these guys’ straospheres?
Doesn’t it make a difference that he only had to play against white people during his day? Good god, what if you put CJ Spiller on a football field with only white people? What if you put Trevor Booker on a basketball court with just white people?
33Takeezy
on Apr 19, 2009 at 8:13 pm:
I think without the weight training, weight gainers, specialized training that all the athletes have nowadays its really hard to compare. But I’d have to think McFadden would have a shot if he went through the futuristic trainings going on now, or CJ and Trevor not having any of the workouts.
Kind of an impossible comparison technically, but I think Banks was extremely versatile athlete and should be considered more so than Spiller or Booker
34Coby DuBose
on Apr 19, 2009 at 10:28 pm:
I think it’s worth noting that McFadden did everything he did in a segregated game.
I’d absolutely shutter to think of what CJ Spiller would do against a team full of white defenders.
History looks favorably on people like McFadden. Not fairly, IMO.

John Leake was a white defender… as is Brian Urlacher. Them being white has nothing to do with it so stop fucking putting my race down. *Glances at Jimmy the Greek.*

37Coby DuBose
on Apr 20, 2009 at 1:38 pm:
and John Leake sucked. As did Chad Carson. And Tyler Grisham. And every other white player that’s become insanely overrated the first time they did anything good.
There’s a reason why the NFL and NBA are like 80% black (roughly). The athletes are better. It’s not really about the fact that they’re black, it’s that the talent pool was reduced dramatically by disallowing them. Meaning that the players on the field were less talented on average.
Same shit goes for the people who think Babe Ruth was the best thing to ever walk on a field (he’s 2nd).
I’m not sure why this is so hard to understand.
38CUTigersinDV
on Apr 20, 2009 at 2:34 pm:
In that case every player before 1980 should be discounted from any talk of greatest anything. They’re too old and what they did had no merrit because it was a long time ago. Any athlete that’s decent after the year 2000 is the best athlete in Clemson history.
I just meant that he was one of, if not the best multi sport athlete at Clemson. He even played multiple positions in one sport. Hell, he even went on to become a decent coach at Clemson. My only point was to compare Kyle Parker to guys like him or others is lunacy. Not that Da’Quan Bowers couldn’t crush his bones into dust and throw him into the wind.
39Willy Mac
on Apr 20, 2009 at 3:25 pm:
Coby, my deal is that anyone can be anything. Some black guys might have a leg up because most young white kids are pussified and interested in other things rather than contact sports, etc. Also, you’re a GD moron if you think that Grisham and Leake weren’t good.

I don’t know guys, Kyle Parker may be the best player we’ve ever had. I mean, really, think about it.
Just step back and think about how truly awesome he is. Think about all he has done for us in BOTH football AND baseball. Wow, just wow.
Kyle Parker is my hero.
I can’t believe there is even a debate about this.
Kyle Parker beat out Willy “Extreme” Korn for the starting QB job.
He has to be the best player we’ve ever had in any sport ever.
