I can assure you of the following: No, we are not dead; We didn’t take a tumble down the stairs when nobody was home only to have a tiny, yapping dog slowly gnaw away at our flesh while we plead with the animal to stop doing so; Yes, we’re both having trouble with the internet at the same time; Even though it is spring football, my interest is disappearing quickly.
Baseball
- We won Friday, came back but lost on Saturday, and beat Duke without mercy on Sunday. You can read the CUAD weekend wrap up here.
- I can’t stand the Duke coach. Maybe it’s his age or inexperience showing, but everything he has done to Clemson has been pretty shitty. I wonder if he acts like this toward other teams. Last year we had a three game series up there that would pretty much decide who would fill the last spot in the ACC Tournament. We split two games and hurried to get the final game in because inclement weather was looming. From what I understand he purposely sent his grounds crew home and when it began to rain he refused to make his players tarp up the field due to him “hearing thunder.” The game ended in a tie as a result and I think we got the shaft a little ways down the road. Then he acts like a total asshat this weekend, nearly starting a brawl and almost getting thrown out of the game on Friday. Then he generally acted like a jackass for the remainder of the weekend. I mean, good for him I guess as he’s rallying a team that are winning more now than they ever have, but there are better ways of firing up your team than that crap.
- Jack Leggett picked up win number 700 on Sunday in the blowout.
- Justin Sarratt took home the ACC Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance last week.
- This week we travel to Columbia tonight to play at 7pm, then we bring it back to Clemson tomorrow for another 7 o’clock game. We have Miami at home this coming weekend for a three game series.
Football
- Theres been a lot of talk about our defense starting to look like the defenses of old. Granted that there’s really no way we can match the good ol’ boy defenses Danny constructed, but let’s hope that it’s true. Kevin Steele is obviously pretty instrumental in that statement carrying some weight.
- The defensive side of the ball had a pretty good scrimmage last time out. DaQuan Bowers continues to be a beast.
- The quarterback race is still close, but the newspapers are pointing to what the rumor mills have been saying this whole time: Parker might win the job. Was Willy Korn really ruined that badly by Bowden and Spence? Also, what on earth is the formula for taking a baller player out of high school and ruining him to the point where he’s losing out to a
freshmanyounger guy? Whatever the case is, Korn better start brushing up on some extreme hand signals. - More rumors state that we might try a two quarterback system next year.
- Thankfully, we still have plenty of weapons to choose from on offense but we still need to figure out a way to make it all click together.

That coach from Duke was a total douchebag..I can’t believe he didn’t get thrown out Friday night, but overall, besides that slip up saturday, Clemson is looking like a contender in the ACC again.

I remember the controversy last year concerning the “rain out.” That was the douchiest move ever by a coach that I can remember. Someone needs to pee in that guys’ Cheerios.

I have a suspicion that Parker’s going to win this job. I think Korn is a big name locally but, unless I’m mistaken, Parker was ranked similarly to Korn coming out of high school. He’s had early success in baseball and probably feels confident that he’s going to have the same success in football.

Who’s gonna put out the first “STEELE CURTAIN” defense t-shirt?

Or “Man of Steele”
I thought at one point Parker would never take a snap for the football team. Given his baseball success, I figured he’d focus on that, get drafted next year and make an assload of money. Obviously that won’t be the case. I read yesterday, though, that Korn had taken a slight lead over Parker in the competition. I’ll try to find the link to that.
And Willy, what are you losing interest in? Block-C? Please don’t cast us down to the mouth-breathers and cousin-fuckers at that other Clemson site.

Korn v. Parker
I believe it will all shake down to whether or not Korn can get his mechanics back in order. He is winding up and dropping the ball down to his hip right now which of course delays his release significantly. Supposedly his velocity is back and he is making the throws again but just has this hiccup. Going purely off what I’ve read he seems to have managed the game better than Parker in the majority of practices and scrimmages. He has taken less sacks, has better touch on his passes, and has produced yards taking off after a play has broken down.
Parker just apparently has a cannon which makes up for a lot of indecision. He doesn’t seem to have the overall grasp of the offense or awareness of the pass rush though that is to be expected since he is significantly behind Korn on his knowledge of the offense.
Here’s to hoping Korn gets his mechanics back in order to give himself his best shot at winning the starting job after battling back from mulitiple injuries and apparently being way undercoached by Spence/Bowden this past summer when they solely focused on Harper.

@ 5 – No my interest in football is waning, mostly because of the semi homoerotic articles. It wasn’t too bad today, but that just gave me the creeps and I’d rather not be teased with just a few weeks of football that I only get to hear about.

I can understand that. The obsession with other men’s chests and abs and taut buttocks is creepy and offputting and spring ball IS kind of a cocktease.

I don’t really enjoy the spring game, although I go every year. But it does just give me inflated hopes and dreams that are constantly dashed away by our strong ability to choke…

While I don’t really follow Clemson baseball, I heartily endorse any type of conduct or discussion that involves disparaging Duke University. Especially if it’s by a hooker/ “exotic dancer.” (oh snap!)
It’s hard to believe that Korn is losing ground against Parker. HE IS KORN! What would EKR do if Korn transfers like Willie Simmons did after Bowden took over? Ayyeee! The mind reels! Anyway, glad to hear that the defense is looking tough. Hopefully this Clemson team will surprise us all! (quickly runs away)
