Paul Strelow with The State released a small blurb stating the Cullen Harper has been invited to tryout at a mini-camp with the Buffalo Bills. Here it is verbatim:

Former Clemson quarterback Cullen Harper has agreed to a free-agent tryout with the Buffalo Bills.

Harper is one of two quarterbacks the Bills are expected to bring in for a rookie mini-camp this weekend.

“It was disappointing (not to get drafted), but I have an opportunity, and I can’t ask for more than that,” Harper said.

Block-C.com has received a statement via text message from former Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden that reads, “He got wut he desrved LULZ – T Beezy

HOW THE DRAFT SHOOK OUT

Posted by Willy Mac

Drafted

Dorell Scott – St. Louis Rams in the 4th round (No. 103) at Defensive Tackle
Chris Clemmons – Miami Dolphins in the 5th Round (No. 165) at Defensive Back
Michael Hamlin – Dallas Cowboys in the 5th Round (No. 166) at Defensive Back
James Davis – Cleveland Browns in the 6th Round (No. 195) at Running Back

Free Agency

Aaron Kelly – Agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons at Wide Receiver
Rashaad Jackson – Agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers at Defensive Line
Tyler Grisham – Agreeing to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wide Receiver

Out in the Cold

Cullen Harper – Hopefully agreeing to terms with the Wendy’s off of Pelham Road near the I-85 off-ramp for Second Shift Manager.

Remember Cullen: Never frozen, always fresh.

***UPDATE*** – It seems that talks fell through with Wendy’s as one of Harpers demands was a high scale house in the exclusive Thornblade neighborhood close by.  Another potential suitor for Harper might come in the form of OCE, a company that specializes in printers and plotters.  OCE is the direct rival of Konica Minolta and it’s been well publicized that Harper referred to KM as, “a bunch of assholes that don’t know how to fill a decent gift bag at a bowl game.”  No word yet if any OCE representatives have been in contact, but this would be a huge step up from the burger business.  It’s likely he would fill an unpaid intern position or possibly a part time entry level sales position.

FRIDAY BLURBLE

Congratulations on being able to chug that beer boot in seven seconds.  Unfortunately, you’re still fat and unhappy when sober.

Zero point two… Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? One point six; four C’s and an F. A fine example you set! Daniel Simpson Day… HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete. Mr. Blu – MR. BLUTARSKY… ZERO POINT ZERO.” – Dean Vernon Wormer

Baseball

  • We have a three game home stand against Georgia Tech this weekend.  Friday and Saturday are 6:30pm games and Sunday is another 1pm game.
  • Probable pitching as follows:

Friday
GT: RHP Deck McGuire (6-0, 2.56) vs. CU: LHP Chris Dwyer (4-3, 4.30)
Saturday
GT: RHP Zach Von Tersch (6-1, 4.91) vs. CU: LHP Casey Harman (4-3, 3.86)
Sunday
GT: RHP Brandon Cumpton (2-0, 4.24) vs. CU: TBA

  • Here are the previews for Georgia Tech and Clemson. The weather looks good this weekend too.
  • Clemson currently has five former players on major league rosters.  Also not on the list is Doug Hogan who is doing well playing for the Hickory Crawdads (same league as the Greenville Drive).
  • The State wrote a pretty decent article on Jeff Schaus and his hitting prowess of late.

Switching to football

  • Heather Dinich and apparently the other folks over at the ESPN offices think we are paper ACC Champs again.  Good or bad?
  • Things looked bad for our seniors in the draft, but they’re getting better.  Honestly, I think a lot of those guys are pretty hard workers and at least half should catch on somewhere for a year.
  • Swinney has finally put ink to paper on his new contract.  It’s a pretty fair deal and he has plenty of room to achieve.  I’m pulling for him and I hope he gets his money.

That man is old enough to remember when Florida State was all-girls, and apparently some Nole fans carry on that proud tradition by continuing to be whiny bitches.

The other day, Deadspin picked up on this hilarious photo from Rivals of the Dabo Swinney Fantasy Camp or whatever it’s officially called, we mentioned it on our Twitter feed (I WILL NOT SAY THAT I “TWEETED” IT), it was seen in the forums and around the web. This morning, Tomahawk Nation took their turn with it, and couldn’t help but continue their completely unsubstantiated claim that Clemson coaches lied to FSU recruits with this caption:

booshit

About the 12 player thing, never mind that scholarship numbers wouldn’t have prevented more signees without a loss of scholarships for existing players (a not uncommon practice at some *cough SEC cough* schools), Clemson only signed 12 and that doesn’t seem like many so let’s not look into it any further but to mock them for their small class. Ha, see, we mocked you for your small class. Also never mind a mid-season coaching change or the inevitable recruiting shakeup that is bound to occur because of that, they only signed TWELVE it’s hilarious, they couldn’t even cop a baker’s dozen.

Anyway, back to that whole claim about lying to recruits, if you recall from the earlier situation detailed in this missive from Willy Mac and myself, TN used a bullshit anonymous source to claim Clemson coaches were waging a systematic misinformation campaign against Florida State by lying to recruits about the possible ramifications of FSU’s NCAA sanctions. Then, desperately grasping at straws in an attempt to legitimize their claim, they tried to use a single nebulous line from an ESPN interview with a recruit to prove their claim. Then they whined like fucking babies that Clemson should issue a formal apology to Florida State.

What is hilarious to me is that, not only did they essentially fabricate a situation, then use a quote from a recruit off an ESPN article with absolutely no inference of where he got the idea in his head that FSU’s sanctions might be big ones and attempted to use that quote to tie it back to their original messageboard gossip-level claim, they now look back on that situation and somehow in their Garnet colored glasses Dabo was “caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar.” Seriously? They’re reflecting on the supposed situation of several months ago as if it were an actual event. Really? If by “caught” you mean “not seen anywhere near or documented by any reliable source,” and by “cookie jar” you mean “complete fabrication of your imagination” then sure, I guess you’re right!

The commenters on that site are really something special, too. Usually that kind of gathering of backslapping, guffawing bufoons ends with a cookie covered with cum, here it just ends in comments that remind me why I’m glad we don’t write for SB Nation and why I wish crib death was far more common in the Florida panhandle.

Yes, jlee3, if the moon were made of barbeque spare ribs, I would eat it. Heck, I’d have seconds, and polish it off with a tall, cool Budweiser. I would do it. Would you?

MONDAY NEWS FILLER

Baseball

  • Weekend Results: Lost Friday, Lost Saturday, Won Sunday.  Schaus, Parker, and Paulsen continue to be the Tiger’s mainstay when we need a hit.  Casey Harman pitched six scoreless innings yesterday in our win.  Overall we played decently with a few exceptions both bad and good.
  • A thirteen game home stand (There’s one game played in Greenville in stand) begins this week with Coastal Carolina on Tuesday and South Carolina on Wednesday.  The weekend brings in Georgia Tech for a three game series.

Random bits

  • Jacoby Ford won the 100m in the ACC Championship.  The team also won the overall ACC Outdoor Championship. Clemson came in sixth overall.
  • Golf finished second in the ACC Tournament.
  • Dabo Swinney had his fantasy camp this past weekend.  It was discussed in the forums and Mogrits finally came through with a video of some of the action.  I can’t believe people actually paid money to do that.  Check around the 0:33 mark and then ask yourself, “Did that really just happen?
