Here’s a brief rundown of the recent moves on the coaching front for Clemson.
- Someone told me that WRDW out of Augusta is reporting tonight that Will Muschamp has interviewed for the job, but I can’t find anything out there to back this up. *UPDATE* This has been debunked. Didn’t happen, apparently.
- Rivals is reporting that Bud Foster will interview (HT: NavyChief)
- Lane Kiffin was interviewed by TDP last week.
- ESPN’s Bruce Feldman reports that Oklahoma’s defensive coordinator Brent Venables was interviewed, though Venables is not commenting on it.
- As I posted earlier, rumor has it that TDP interviewed Phil Fulmer today in the lowcountry. There is absolutely zero real evidence about this other than the fact that the Clemson plane was at the same airport as a plane out of Knoxville. Fulmer has reportedly expressed interest in the job.
- More baseless rumors state that a list of six candidates was submitted to the Board of Trustees and that a hire would be made within a week after the Sakerlina game. If that is to be believed, then Foster, Kiffin, and Venables would surely be on the list. The other candidates, if not the ones above, would probably be current head coaches.
- *UPDATE* People are saying that Ball State coach Brad Hoke is going to get a look.

Isn’t it far more likely that both UT and CU are recruiting a Walterboro football player?

No, TigerNet said we were interviewing Fulmer…

Seems like alot of traveling to just interview Fulmer doesnt it? Why would he be in Walterboro of all places?
Has anyone wondered why Lane Kiffin was in Detroit? I bet he was called in to look at the Lions job too.
Brady Hoke at Ball State was also contacted about the job per Rivals.
If, as some have said, Muschamp was actually the one interviewed in Oklahoma City, why in the world would he be in Oklahoma during a game week? Austin is not really a short drive from the place.

The Texas Rivals page is saying something about Muschamp being interviewed by Clemson as well.

Thanks for the coverage of all this swirling coaching stuff. Oklahoma’s DC is an intriguing prospect, but I agree with earlier comments about not accepting the SEC’s “garbage.” No Fulmer or Tuberville, please.
This morning, a homeless guy sitting in the rain outside 30th Street Station in Philly told me that some dudes with black face masks and red cobras on their chests were spotted digging up a certain grave in Wisconsin, collecting genetic material for something called “Project Sabantor”:

Sounds interesting to me. As everyone knows, Terranadon Philips has been associated with Cobra for years, back to the 80′s when he was the roadie for Cold Slither. Just have to see what happens with that.
Ah, the Duke game! Will Swinney feel the heat on Saturday versus DUKE? Will the Clemson Rally Cats enter into the OL rotation? Can Harper go one game with no INTs? Should be fun!

I would expect Gary Patterson to end up getting interviewed soon, ESPN finally gets the word about Foster, just now. That is Brady Hoke on the front page of Rivals as was already mentioned. I say hire Foster and make Dabo the Offensive Coordinator. Wonder if Lane Kiffins dad is part of the deal, unlikely. I watched the video press conference of Al Davis announcing he was fired and he said a big part of it was because he wouldn’t hire his dad.

So lets just say you are stupid enough to believe all the rumors. Six candidates, we know that Kiffin, Foster, Venables and Hoke are pretty much fact. Honestly, Fulmer is likely. That would leave one mystery person out there.

Sounds like we’re excluding some good candidates if the six interviewed in fact are Kiffin, Foster, Venables, Hoke and Fulmer. I’d be shocked if we didn’t interview Muschamp and we should pursue Gary Patterson, Chris Peterson and Brian Kelly. You think Phillips is really that enamored with Swinney that he’s just interviewing that list? I’m also surprised that there has never been any mention of Charlie Strong.

If Clemson interviews Hoke, they really should interview Todd Graham or at least Gus Malzahn. But I’m a homer for them, so I’m biased. I hope either on TDP’s hit list.
I saw the Walterboro thing and went “WTF?” My wife’s from Ridgeland, which is near there, and outside of their super Wal-Mart there’s no sign of life in that area.

Maybe TDP is taking a break and visiting Beaufort, or Hilton Head. All this interviewing warrants a round or two of golf!

On the Flight Aware website, it says that the plane that flew from Knoxville is registered to Phillips and Jordan, Inc. (some construction company). So I don’t think they were there on a recruiting trip. That being said, I wouldn’t think it was big Phil on board, unless he is tight with the owners. Anyway, here is the link on the mystery plane:

My bosses’ 13 year old son got it from one of his teachers (whose brother knows some high ups at Clemson) that this coaching search is a dumb fucking thing for us to speculate on. There’s an entire month left of this shit and I’m gonna be on suicide watch by the end of it if we all keep guessing at who the next coach will be. Yes, it’s that annoying.

I’m speculating that three weeks ago I said that this would happen and now it is happening because Chili said it five days ago that I would eat a bacon sandwhich today and that I could have a cheesburger today if I gladdly paid him on tuesday and that you siad that something ten years ago about something irrelevant about something today and then next time around.

Yeah I got it pretty long after it was released. Haven’t had a chance to get into it yet. I will this weekend.
You said it right in your response, Chili. “Other people’s guesses.” I’m just trying to stay away from any media coverage of it because we all know that the media usually fucks up their take on Clemson. Hell, announcers who cover half our games each year still cant pronounce CLEMSON right, let alone make accurate statements or insightful observations about our team. Maybe we know too much about our team to begin with so by comparison these announcers who come in and peruse a media guide for 10 minutes seem like amateurs (which they are).
@20, my head just exploded.

Will you all please shut up? It’s common knowledge that TDP’s every decision hangs on what he reads online, and we don’t want to fuck things up.
Dont believe me? Watch this: I think TDP should wear an orange shirt today and tomorrow.
