FULMER CONTACTED

P&C’s Larry Williams reports that TDP has reached out to ousted Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer’s agent about Clemson’s coaching vacancy. I don’t think Fulmer is a good pick for several reasons. He’s a good coach, but he built teams out of players of highly questionable character (something Clemson is trying to avoid like the plague), and has not seen a lot of success since he lost David Cutcliffe. Also, I’d rather not hire a coach who was just forced out of another job.

cant believe tdp is even considering him

Would you rather Dabo or Fulmer? That is TDP’s evil plan.

    Egad!

Wow, this really makes me question TDP’s judgement. Fulmer shouldn’t even be considered, the Tennessee program has clearly gone steadily downhill in recent years.

@4 with the exception of last year of course, but that was because cutcliff was back

I’m with Penthouse Tiger and William Davis. Clemson must be desperate. Or stupid. Fulmer without Cutcliffe is a failure waiting to happen. I’d rather have Bobby Johnson than Phil.

Of course, TaterNet logic and the according bylaws clearly state that SEC failure = ACC success.

Clemson is setting itself up to getting Tennessee’s and everyone else’s sloppy seconds.

TDP must be the franchisee of the new Dunkin Donuts downtown.

Why doesn’t everyone chill out for a second. Huj, ever dramatic, is making it seem as if we’ve already hired the damned guy. Talkin’ is talkin’.

I look at it this way. You have a coach that went 150-51 and won a national championship, and he’s interested. Its not a big deal to interview the man. His agent represents tons of good coaches.

I don’t see TDP making the choice of Fulmer, ever. He’s too old and wouldnt bring enough excitement and energy into the program. But I think he’d be dumb to just ignore it and give no thought to it at all.

    @11 I don’t get it.

@15, spend a couple hours on tardnet. By then, you’ll get it. That, or the time spent there will have stir-fried your mind so much you think the shirt would be “clever.”

Just think of the t-shirt slogan gems if Dabo stayed on and we could combine the sexually charged “All In” with the overpacked excitement of some type of “FULL”mer witticism. SHOW ME THE MONEY!

What’s the next logical step here? Calling Ty Willingham? Or worse, calling back Bowden?

  19. 19ChiliNo Gravatar on Nov 8, 2008 at 10:51 am:

18, yeah because they’ve both won National Championships and multiple SEC titles too, right? Right?

Look, I think Fulmer is a bad hire, but let’s calm the hyperbole down a bit.
