Clemson (0-0, 0-0) vs. Alabama (0-0, 0-0) Saturday, August 30th, 8:00 PM EST. ABC HD, XM 191, 99.1 FM in the Georgia Dome. Live Feed from 104.9 here. Get there on MARTA: Moving Alabamans Rapidly Towards Asswhoopin?
The Line: Clemson -5
Edge goes to:
Offense: Clemson
Defense: Clemson
Special Teams: Push
Intangibles: Alabama could use this game as a major springboard into this season as well as one of the first bricks Saban uses to pave his way at Bama. A loss here would be disastrous for Clemson and they would lose all credibility, however, a win here would set into motion the wheels of the Clemson propaganda mobile.
Our Panel of [funny goes here] Say:
Chili: Saban uses his trademark super-complex defensive schemes to confound a young Clemson O-line and makes it relatively difficult for Clemson to execute how it wants on offense. Likewise Clemson’s defense steps up against JPW. Bama outperforms Clemson on special teams. Basically Clemson is a bit outcoached but has the talent to pull it out in a nasty looking game.
Clemson 14, Alabama 13
Willy Mac: I honestly believe that at this point, at this point Alabama is far more inexperienced when it comes to all aspects of the build up. They’re inexperienced talent wise. They’re inexperienced media wise. They’re inexperienced emotionally. And they’re inexperienced, well, experience-wise. They’ll attack our linebackers, and they’ll have success. They’ll attack our line, and they’ll be successful. I think it will be a great and close game for around the first three quarters, but we’ll pull away. I think we will win the turnover war because our defense is good. I also believe that because of this, we’ll pull away later in the game and dominate badly. I also don’t think we’re going to lose any momentum from mid third quarter of this game until the Wake Forest game.
Clemson 34, Alabama 17

Ladies and… err… well… just the guys… that are in the mustache competition… let’s start over. Everyone in the mustache competition. IT’S HERE! The deadline! All mustache pictures MUST be submitted before midnight Friday. You see that there? The word “must” was put in bold, italicized, and even underlined to put importance on it. I’d hate for you to have grown this thing for months, only to not have it count. I’m looking at you Sam. Yeah, you. Why you? Because not only is your beard sketchy, so are your submission techniques. You don’t know how to read, so why are you even holding a dictionary?
Also, no more password. Yeah, I bluffed. Hope you called it. I also hope that when you take your picture you use a good camera. Also, I hope that you send a few (no more than three) for us to judge different styles of your mustache (if you can’t style by now, you’re terrible and shouldn’t even send in pics).
Lastly, I’m calling it. I’m going to out-redneck each and every one of you.

Update: After watching last night’s game, rahn has a good point. A good, bold, all-caps point.

COACH FORD’S TAKE
The Post & Courier has a fantastic writeup on our favorite coach, Danny Ford, and his divided loyalties when it comes to the Clemson-Alabama game. Ford was an All-SEC offensive lineman for Alabama under Coach Bear Bryant and later coached under the Bear. Ford has a brilliant quote about Clemson’s current high expectations.
It’s nice to be ranked. It’s nice to get the publicity and all that. But it’s not worth a darn if you don’t live up to it when it happens.
Words of wisdom from Danny Ford. Hopefully the Tigers keep that in mind this season.
BOWDEN’S STRUGGLES AND SUCCESSES
Sticking with coaches, ESPN has an interesting read on Coach Bowden’s tenure at Clemson. Inconsistent, exciting, disappointing. Sort of like your sex life.
LAMBERT SAYS O-LINE IS CONFIDENT
The Greenville News interviews right tackle Corey Lambert and discovers that the many questions posed about the strength of Clemson’s offensive line unit has motivated the squad. Clemson’s OL is an interesting mix. Some of our younger guys, while more inexperienced, are talented enough to push out some of the veterans for starting spots. This has been the cause of a lot of scuffles on the practice fields this year.
OP ON TV IN 08-09
This year’s men’s basketball schedule has been announced and Clemson will appear in 10 nationally televised games. Highlights include the Tigers playing at Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge (is it really a challenge for the ACC?), and a January 21st matchup with the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill where Clemson will look to improve on their big 0-fer record up there.
STRAIGHT CASH, HOMES
Clemson alumnus and philanthropist C. Tycho Howle’s family has donated $2.5 million to Clemson University to endow two chairs in computing research. Read about it here.

If you’re looking for me in Atlanta, I won’t be hard to find. Here is a proof of both the banners.
Here is the t-shirt I’ll be wearing so you can find me. Hopefully I’ll have some extras on hand with me.
As you can see, Tiger Town Graphics did a great job on these items. Probably some of the best apparel people I’ve worked with. Look for me and I’ll be giving out shirts and stickers.
